Give Something Special
The Dominican Sisters of Sparkill appreciate the generosity shown to us over the years. Friends and benefactors have made it possible for us to continue to respond to the needs of people of all ages. For this, we are deeply grateful. Please know that gifts are never taken for granted. We use them for our many outreach ministries, the continued education of our Sisters and to support our senior and infirm members.
Should the occasion arise that you want to consider a Special Gift to the Dominican Sisters we would like to offer some suggestions. They will help to offer your thoughtful support without compromising your financial well-being.
- Pledge a Monthly Gift:
This can be done in one of two ways. You decide on the amount and then:
(1) Write a check and mail it to us
- we can provide envelopes for each month.
(2) Authorize us to charge this amount to your credit card.
You will need to provide us with the card number and expiration date.
- Remember the Dominican Sisters in Your Will:
You can bequeath a gift to the Sisters by including us in your will.
DOMINICAN CONVENT OF OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY
(our official title) - aka: Dominican Sisters, Sparkill, NY
- as one of your beneficiaries and
record the amount you would like us to receive.
- Life Insurance Policy:
Name the Dominican Sisters as a beneficiary on an existing,
paid up Life Insurance Policy.
- Stock or Securities:
Make an outright gift of stock or securities.
By doing this you may avoid the capital gains tax
and take a tax deduction for the full value of the stock.
- Matching Gifts:
Make arrangements for a matching gift
from your place of employment or,
if you are retired,
through a corporate giving program
from a place of former employment.
- Charitable Gift Annuity Program:
If you live in New York, Connecticut, Florida and Missouri you are invited to consider planning a Charitable Gift Annuity with the Dominican Sisters.
What is a Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA)?
As described by the American Council on Gift Annuities, a CGA is ‘a contract (not a trust) under which a charity (Dominican Convent of Our Lady of the Rosary - our legal title - aka Dominican Sisters, Sparkill, NY) in return for a transfer of cash or marketable securities, agrees to pay a fixed amount of money (payment) to one or two individuals (annuitant(s) for their lifetime’. You decide how much you want your annuity to be* and once the contract is reviewed and approved by your estate/financial planner and/or lawyer and signed by you and the Dominican Sisters you will begin receiving a guaranteed rate of return. Since CGA’s are a contribution to a charity
the benefit to you is as a tax deduction.
*Annuity may start at:
- $10,000 or more payments will be issued quarterly
- $5000 – payments will be issued two times a year
- $2500 – payments will be issued one time a year
Note: Other amounts are negotiable
Before making any decisions regarding significant charitable gifts we suggest that you consult your attorney, accountant, or financial advisor. This will safeguard your interest and those of your family.
Hopefully this information is useful. I you have any questions or need additional information regarding the above please contact:
