Dominican Sisters of Sparkill Join LCWR’s 100-Day Call

LCWR 100 Days of Prayer, Fasting and Advocacy

Dominican Sisters of Sparkill Join LCWR's "100 Days of Prayer, Fasting, and Advocacy" with a Special Observance on the Feast of St. Dominic

The Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) has launched a national initiative calling on women’s religious congregations, along with their associates and partners in mission, to join in “100 Days of Prayer, Fasting, and Advocacy.” This spiritual and justice-centered campaign is a collective response to the urgent moral and humanitarian challenges of our time, including systemic injustice, violence, climate degradation, threats to democracy, and assaults on human dignity.

The Dominican Sisters of Sparkill are proud to join this effort, choosing August 8th—the Feast of St. Dominic—as our dedicated day to pray and witness for peace and justice. In the spirit of St. Dominic, a preacher of truth and compassion, we will gather at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel at Dominican Convent in Sparkill, NY, for communal prayer. Following this time of reflection, those who are able and feel called will walk to Route 340 to pray the Rosary as a public act of solidarity and hope.

LCWR’s 100-day campaign is rooted in the deep spiritual traditions of religious life and seeks to harness the collective power of contemplation and action. Through intentional prayer, fasting, and advocacy, participants across the country are committing themselves to be instruments of peace, justice, and transformation in a world marked by suffering and division.

“We are called, now more than ever, to live our Dominican vocation as preachers of truth and hope,” said Sister Eileen Gannon. “By joining our voices and actions with others, we continue the work of St. Dominic—bringing the Gospel to life in a wounded world.”

The Dominican Sisters invite all associates, friends, and partners in mission to join them on August 8th in person or in spirit. Let this be a moment of shared prayer and bold witness as we recommit ourselves to the Gospel call for justice and peace.
