Sister Raymond Louise Zimmerly, OP

Sister Raymond Louise Zimmerly, OP, of the Dominican Sisters, Sparkill, New York, died on June 25, 2016 in St. Louis, MO.

Born in St. Louis, MO on June 17, 1940, Carole Lynne was the daughter of Raymond and Louise Schwartz Zimmerly.

She entered the Dominican Congregation of Our Lady of the Rosary in Sparkill on September 8, 1958 and received the name Sister Raymond Louise. She professed her first vows in 1960 and her final vows in 1965.

Sister Raymond Louise received a BS in Education, St. Thomas Aquinas College, NY in 1961 and a MA in Ed Reading, St. Louis University, MO in 1973.

Sister Raymond Louise was a teacher and ministered in the Archdiocese of NY at St. Helen, Bronx, NY (1961-63); and in the Archdiocese of St. Louis at St. Mark (1963-66), St. Mary Magdalen (1966-69), Epiphany (1969-75), St. Richard (1975-85), St. Dominic HS (1985-86), St. Paul the Apostle (1986-87), Sts. James and John (1987-88), Corpus Christi (1988-92), Blue Hill Corp (1992-93) and Christ, Prince of Peace (1995-2001). From 2001-2011 she served at CSJ Care Agency where she assisted the elderly with home care services. From 2011-2014 she volunteered at the Family Center in East St. Louis, IL. Upon retiring she continued to visit and pray with the elderly in her community in St. Louis.

Sister Raymond Louise is predeceased by her parents Raymond and Louise Zimmerly. She was the beloved niece of Ted Schwartz and Rose Brown, cousin to Joan Martin and Larry Schwartz, cherished addition to the Bischof family, a dear friend to many, and a teacher and sister in Christ.

Sister Raymond Louise was a very loving and caring person and enjoyed being with her community, family and friends. She was always ready to lend a hand when there was work to be done. She enjoyed life and loved the St. Louis Cardinals. We are grateful for her fifty-seven years as a Dominican Sister of Sparkill. We thank God for her life and her goodness and we pray that she be at peace with the God whom she loved. May she rest among the saints in the glory of heaven.
