Sister Alfred Marie Toole, OP died on September 7, 2019 in Siena Hall, Dominican Convent, Sparkill, NY. She was 92 years old.

Born in Brooklyn, NY on October 14,1926, Catherine was the daughter of Alfred and Minerva Fernando Toole. She entered the Dominican Congregation of Our Lady of the Rosary in Sparkill on September 8, 1951 and received the name Sister Alfred Marie. She professed her first vows in 1953 and final vows in 1958.

Sister Alfred Marie received a BS in Education from Fordham University, Bronx, NY, 1959; and an MA in Mathematics from Manhattan College, Bronx, NY, 1973.

Sister Alfred Marie taught at Cardinal McCloskey School, White Plains, NY (1953-1955); St. James School, Carmel, NY (1955-1956); St. Anthony School, Nanuet, NY (1956-1959); St. Mary Magdalen School, Springfield Gardens, NY (1959-1965); Holy Family School, Hicksville, NY (1965-1967); St. Martin of Tours School, Bronx, NY (1967-1969); St. Catherine of Siena School, NYC (1969-1970); Aquinas High School, Bronx, NY (1970-1977); St. Nicholas of Tolentine High School, Bronx, NY (1977-1978); St. Barnabas High School, Bronx, NY (1978-1990); St. Catharine Academy, Bronx, NY (1990-1994); St. Brendan School, Bronx, NY (1994-1997). From 1997-2003, Sister Alfred Marie was involved in Community Service at St. Brendan Convent.

Sister Alfred Marie is predeceased by her parents Alfred and Minerva Fernando Toole and her brother James. She is survived by her sister-in-law Marilyn Toole.

Sister Alfred Marie Toole made a difference in the lives of countless students and parents in her ministry as classroom teacher. She served her God and congregation faithfully for more than 68 years as a Dominican Sister of Sparkill. We thank God for her life, presence and commitment as she was welcomed into the fullness of God’s presence. Sister Alfred Marie will be remembered by her Dominican Sisters, Associates, colleagues and all who were touched by her life.
