Sister Annmarie Fisher, OP of the Dominican Sisters, Sparkill, New York, died on August 23, 2023, in Good Samaritan Hospital, Suffern, NY. Sister was 67 years old and in her 44th year of religious life.
Born in New York, NY, on February 2, 1956, Annmarie was the daughter of Perry and Rosemarie Sheldon Fisher. She entered the Dominican Congregation of Our Lady of the Rosary in Sparkill on September 1, 1979. She professed her first vows in 1981 and final vows in 1989.
Sister Annmarie earned a BS in Education from Marywood College, Scranton, PA, 1978 and a Professional Diploma in Counseling from Fordham University, Bronx, NY, 1989.
Sister Annmarie’s ministries included St. John Chrysostom School, Bronx, NY (1979;1981-83) as teacher, and Aquinas High School, Bronx, NY as Guidance Counselor and Director of Guidance Department. (1983-2006). From 2006-2008, Sister Annmarie served as Director of Guidance at Msgr. Scanlan High School, Bronx, NY, and then as Principal from 2008-2010. In 2012, Sister Annmarie began her ministry as the Housing Certification Specialist at Thorpe Village, a position she held until her passing.
Sister Annmarie is predeceased by her father, Perry Fisher. She is survived by her mother Rose and siblings Michelle Pascullo (husband Richard); Perry Jr. (wife Sandy); Kenneth (wife Annmarie); and Eileen Kubikowski (husband Greg); and many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Sister Annmarie made a difference in the lives of countless children, in her ministry as teacher, counselor, and principal and in her ministry serving the senior population at Thorpe village. She lived out the mission of the Dominican Sisters to proclaim the Word of God through ministry for justice and reverence for all creation. Well done, good and faithful servant, Sister Annmarie Fisher, OP. May you be held gently in the palm of God’s hand.
