2011-2015 – Creation of Falling Waters Preserve, Saugerties, NY
Project Description
Guided by our congregational Land Ethic (2004) and our mission statement, the congregation made the decision to work with the two environmental groups Scenic Hudson and Esopus Creek Conservancy to preserve 150 acres of Hudson River property in Saugerties and Glasco, NY, and make it available to the public. In July 2011, the formal opening and ribbon cutting at Falling Waters Preserve was celebrated, and the preserve was opened to the public. On January 23, 2015, the congregation sold the property to Scenic Hudson to be preserved in perpetuity.
