Dominican Sisters Association Established

This information was originally disseminated on August 8th.

August 8, 2025, is especially meaningful for us, for today we gather not only to celebrate the feast of Saint Dominic but also to share a moment of profound significance – the official announcement that the Dominican Sisters Association has been established and canonically approved by the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life. In an innovative move, five Dominican congregations of the northeastern United States have embraced a model of shared governance.  This collaborative effort aims to foster unity, enhance resource sharing, and strengthen the collective mission of the Dominican Family. This collaboration in governance was identified as a means for enabling the congregations to continue to carry out our mission, charism, and care of our sisters and remain viable as long as possible. The five congregations engaged in a long journey of discernment and collaboration since 2019 to determine how best to collaborate in governance for the purpose of advancing Dominican life and mission into the future.  Please see the attached documents.
