Wildflower Garden Project
The Sparkill Associates are pleased to announce that the Wildflower Garden Project is making significant progress. A designated area of soil beside the chapel has been cleared and planted with a variety of perennial pollinators and wildflowers. There are even small “pollinator watering stations” to help hydrate our little visitors on hot summer days!
We express our sincere gratitude for the generous donations from our friends and supporters, which have allowed us to purchase these beautiful plants. We also extend our appreciation to Van Houten Farms in Orangeburg, New York, for their expert guidance and knowledge throughout our plant selection process.
We look forward to sharing photographs of the garden with everyone next month! Wishing you all a wonderful summer!
Bird Feeder Project
The Associate Bird Feeder Project has proven to be a success! The bird feeders installed in St. Joseph’s Garden are frequented throughout the day by a diverse array of beautiful birds! The Sisters and staff at the Motherhouse take great pleasure in watching them, as do the Sisters who enjoy relaxing in the garden. Thank you to the friends and supporters who have sent donations, dropped off bags of seeds, and sent boxes of supplies from Amazon!
Sparkill Dominican Associates are lay women and men who walk with our vowed Dominican Sisters in their ministry for justice and peace among God’s people. Depending on our place in life, our participation may vary. We are women and men, working and retired, but our goals are those of the Dominican family: to praise, to bless, to preach. With our Sparkill Sisters, we are blessed to be walking with women who are truly making a difference. Inspired by their history and continued example, we journey with them to make a difference in our world today.
