Our Sparkill Dominican Associates collaborated with the Pajama Program and held our third annual Pajama & Book Drive. We thank all in the community who donated pairs of pajamas with books for bedtime to children in area shelters. Some of the donations came in the form of checks, and gift cards, too.
Under the watchful eye of Alice Mary Thorpe, foundress of the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill, our Associates were able to sort, pack and deliver 256 sets of PJ's and books to the Head Start of Rockland Center in Spring Valley, NY. Head Start's Director and staff were grateful and look forward to seeing us again next year! This project is one way our Associates continue the legacy of our foundress who cared for poor women and children in New York City in the 1870s.
