Rockland County, New York Legislature issues proclamation honoring annual celebration of National Catholic Sisters Week

In early March 2016, a proclamation from the Rockland County, New York Legislature was issued to officially honor the celebration of National Catholic Sisters Week within the county from March 8-14. The proclamation was requested on behalf of the eight congregations of Women Religious who reside in Rockland County: the Dominican Sisters of Blauvelt, Dominican Sisters of Sparkill, Franciscan Sisters of Peace, Sisters of Charity of New York, Sisters of Life, Sisters of Our Lady of Christine Doctrine, Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate, and Sisters of Reparation, Congregation of Mary.

National Catholic Sisters Week is an annual, nation-wide celebration that honors Catholic Sisters and Nuns and their impact on the communities they serve. “This celebration shines a light on the many ways that women religious have witnessed to the Gospel by unselfish lives of service, especially to the most forgotten and neglected people in our society. Each year I find myself inspired by the stories that are told about these heroic women,” said Sr. Margaret Palliser, a member of Sparkill’s Congregational Leadership Team.

We are pleased to share this recognition with the other communities of Women Religious in our local area!
