Sister Cecilia LaPietra receives the Albertus Magnus High School Founders Award

Sister Cecilia LaPietraOn March 31, Albertus Magnus High School celebrated its 65th Anniversary at an Anniversary Scholarship Gala. To mark the occasion, the school honored individuals who embody the mission of the school. Over 280 were in attendance to honor the recipients of the Veritas Award—Bill Heilferty, ‘74, and Dan Sullivan, ‘76; the Magnus Alumni Award was presented to Robert Solano, ’00; and the Founders Award was presented to Sr. Cecilia LaPietra, OP.

In presenting the Founders Award to Sister Cecilia LaPietra, Head of School Joseph Tweed honored her for 25 years of service and leadership as the founding director of One To One Learning, a literacy program that has served more than 8000 immigrants in Rockland County. Like Albertus Magnus High School, One to One Learning is a sponsored ministry of the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill.

Congratulations, Sister Cecilia! We are so proud of the work of One to One Learning. Thank you to you and to all who have served there since its founding!
