On November 7, we hosted 150 guests at our ninth annual Sparks of Light Awards Dinner at The Rockleigh. The Dominican Sisters presented the 2024 Veritas Award to three extraordinary individuals. Our honorees, Mary Anne Evangelist (Educator and Friend of the Congregation), Stephen Papas (CEO, United Way), and Christopher Power (Albertus Magnus High School), received the award presented by Sr. Irene Ellis, OP at Sparks of Light. Their lives reflect our foundress's vision and the Sparkill Dominicans' highest ideals. Their inspiring acceptance speeches brought much laughter to our guests.
Many donors and friends joined the Albertus Magnus High School choir as they sang the National Anthem directed by Cesar Orozco. This was followed by an Invocation and blessing of the meal by Sister Nancy Richter, OP. Our Master of Ceremonies, Joseph Ripp, a longtime friend of the Sisters, guided the celebration with wit and humor. Our donors, friends, and family, along with the Dominican Sisters, had an enjoyable evening.
