“On December 12, 2015, world governments meeting in Paris produced a landmark climate agreement. Many were an integral part of the effort to make this meeting of COP21 different from all twenty that preceded it. And it was different.

Our community joined with Dominicans and many others all around the world to promote action related to climate change. We are grateful for the leadership of Pope Francis who, in Laudato Si, called for care of Earth, our common home. Not all that was hoped for is included in the agreement, but it nevertheless is a clear message about fossil fuels and the movement to renewable energy.

We can rejoice that we have been part of something good, but we cannot stay there. Government leaders, industry leaders, all of us need to continue to study, act, remind and support each other in the enormous task ahead of working together to address the reality of climate change.”
