Two new Postulants enter Sparkill Congregation in Pakistan

The Dominican Sisters of Sparkill are thrilled to welcome two new Postulants (Candidates) into their Community in Pakistan. At a ceremony in Bahawalpur on December 2, 2017, Lubna George and Samreen Javaid (pictured below) officially became Postulants of the Sparkill Congregation.

These young women have spent the last several months living with our Sisters in Multan, Pakistan, under the guidance of the Formation Team. During this time, they have begun to learn about the commitments of religious life and to discern their vocations. While working alongside Sparkill Dominicans at Dominican Primary School, the new Postulants have also accompanied the Sisters in their parish ministry duties: visiting the sick and elderly, encouraging parents to send their children to school (education is not compulsory in Pakistan), and serving those in need.

“What a blessing it is to welcome these two women to our community in Pakistan,” said Sr. Margaret Palliser, member of the Congregation’s Leadership Team. “Lubna and Samreen are very much in our thoughts and prayers as they begin their journey as Sparkill Dominicans. Their initial step in discerning God’s call to religious life is truly a time of grace for us all as they seek to understand and embrace more deeply our Dominican way of life.”
