Sister Clement Marie Fay, OP

Sister Clement Marie Fay, OP, of Dominican Convent, Sparkill, New York, died on, March 7, 2014 in the Siena Hall, Sparkill, NY. Born in Glendale, NY on November 26, 1924, Catherine was the daughter of William and Pauline Hafner Fay. She entered the Dominican Congregation of Our Lady of the Rosary in Sparkill on September 8, 1955 and received the name Sister Clement Marie, professing her first vows in 1957 and her final vows in 1962.

Sister Clement Marie earned a BS in Education from St. Thomas Aquinas College, Sparkill, NY and a MS in Reading from Fordham University, Bronx, NY. Sister Clement Marie was an elementary teacher and reading specialist. She ministered in the Archdiocese of New York and the dioceses of Brooklyn and Syracuse. She taught at St. Teresa, Woodside, NY (1959-60); Holy Family, Fulton, NY (1960-66); St. Mary Magdalen, Springfield Gardens, NY (1966-67); Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Richmond Hill, NY (1967-72); St. Pascal, St. Albans, NY (1972-74); St. Sebastian, Woodside, NY (1974-84); Immaculate Conception, Bronx, NY (1984-86); Holy Name, New York, NY (1987-90. Sister retried in 1990 and offered local community service at Dominican Convent. She became a resident of Siena Hall in 2005.

Sister Clement Marie is survived by her brother-in-law, Paul Pugaschow, Fountain, FL; her sister-in- law, Pauline Fay, Dover, PA; her nieces, Angela (Harry) Seinsoth, Jackson, NJ, Lorelei, (Buzz) Perry, Hawthorn Woods, IL, Clorinda (Les) Smith, Kenneth, FL and her nephews Denis (Arlene) Pace, Toms River, NJ, Robert (Christine) Fay, York PA, William (Mary Beth) Fay, East Berlin, PA, Clifford (Mary) Longo, Medford, NY, Vincent (Olga) Longo, Oro Valley, AZ, Steven Longo, Mesa, AZ; grandnieces and grandnephews. She will be missed by her sisters in congregation and her friends.

We will remember Sister Clement Marie for her dedication to field of education. She loved teaching children and seeing them learn to read. For thirty-one years she shared her gifts as a teacher with a countless number of students. She was committed to her life as a Dominican sister and remained faithful to her call for fifty-eight years. She was gift to us and now we commend her to the God she loved and we ask the good Lord to give her peace among the company of the saints in heaven.
