Sister Patricia Ann Reilly, OP

Sister Patricia Ann Reilly, OP, of the Dominican Sisters, Sparkill, New York, died on June 8, 2017 in Siena Hall, Sparkill, NY.

Born in the Bronx, NY on July 27, 1920, Genevieve was the daughter of Patrick and Ann Loretta Carroll Reilly. She entered the Dominican Congregation of Our Lady of the Rosary in Sparkill on July 16, 1939 and received the name Sister Patricia Ann. She professed her first vows in 1940 and her final vows in 1945.

Sister Patricia received a BS in History/French, Manhattan College, NY 1946; MA in Education, Catholic University, Washington, DC 1965; MA in English, Manhattan College, NY 1970 and a Certificate in Administration/Supervision, New York University, NY 1971.

Sister Patricia Ann served in the Archdiocese of New York as a teacher in St.

Agnes Home and School, Sparkill (1940-1941). From 1941 to 1946 Sr. Patricia Ann taught in St. Helena School, and then from 1946 to 1952 served as principal and teacher at Cardinal McCloskey in White Plains, NY. Sister Patricia Ann taught at Aquinas High School, Bronx, NY from 1952 to 1954 and then at St. Helena High School, Bronx, NY from 1954 to 1969. Beginning in 1969 and for the next 30 years, Sister was a professor and Interim President at St. Thomas Aquinas College, Sparkill, NY before retiring to Dominican Convent.

Sister Patricia is predeceased by her parents Patrick and Ann Loretta Carroll Reilly, her brother Peter and sister Margaret. She is survived by her brother Thomas and her sister, Sr. Eileen Reilly, OP, along with several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Sister Patricia Ann Reilly was a kind and compassionate person. She served her God and congregation faithfully for over seventy-eight years as a Dominican Sister of Sparkill. We thank God for her life and her goodness and we pray she be brought swiftly into the fullness of joy in the presence of the God she loved and so faithfully served. We will miss her presence among us.
