Sister Patricia Clark, OP of the Dominican Sisters, Sparkill, New York, died on January 29 2023 in Siena Hall. She was 92 years old.
Born in Bronx, NY, on November 20, 1930. Patricia Catherine was the daughter of Patrick and Catherine Gibney Clark. She entered the Dominican Congregation of Our Lady of the Rosary in Sparkill on September 8,1954 and received the name Sister Patricia Catherine. She professed her first vows in 1956 and final vows in 1961.
Sister Patricia received her BS in Education from St. Thomas Aquinas College, Sparkill, NY, 1958; MA in Business, College of St. Rose, Albany, NY 1966; an MA in Gerontology, 1973 and an Ed.D. in Gerontology from Columbia University, 1981.
Sister Patricia served as Bookkeeper at St. Agnes Home and School, Sparkill, NY (1956-1958) and taught at Thorpe Secretarial HS (1958-1963); Cathedral HS (1963-1971); Columbia University student (1971-1976); Molloy College, Rockville Centre as professor and Chair of the Gerontology Department (1976-2000); Care Manager at Walk the Walk, Brooklyn, NY (2000–2002), and Spirit Alive, Sparkill, NY (2002-2004).
Sister Patricia is predeceased by her parents Patrick and Catherine Gibney Clark and her brother Donald (Irene). She is survived by her nephews, Richard, William, Edward, and niece Irenemarie Sisco, along with grandnieces and a grandnephew.
Sister Patricia Clark touched the lives of countless children and adults as a teacher at elementary, high school, and college levels. She implemented outreach programs to enrich the lives of the elderly. Sister Patricia proclaimed the goal of the Dominican Sisters through ministry for justice and reverence for all creation for 69 years. May she be welcomed into the fullness of God’s presence.
