Food Drive 2024

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat.  (Matthew 25:35)

There are 58,000 people in Rockland Count who count on food pantries and meal programs each month in Rockland County, NY—1 out of every 6. Of this number almost half are children. While 94,000 Rockland County residents are above the Federal Poverty Level, they still need help assistance in providing sufficient food for their families. (Statistics from Rockland Community Against Hunger)

Our Mission Outreach Committee along with Sisters, Associates and Staff members’ response to this appalling situation has been one of generosity. We are sponsoring a Food Drive in February, which is a time in the year when Food Pantry donations are limited.

These food drive donations will go to the pantries of Catholic Charities Community Services of Rockland in Haverstraw and People to People in Nanuet. In addition to donation of food, monetary donations assist food pantries in purchasing food for those in need. According to Catholic Charities, every $1.00 contributed provides 4 meals!

Providing for all who experience hunger is crucial, but it is also important to ask ourselves why this is happening and collaborate with other groups such as Bread for the World to address the global hunger crisis and humanitarian aid locally and globally.

Our Food Drive responds to the immediate need of those who are hungry in Rockland County and our participation in Bread for the World’s offering of letters supports their mission of advocacy to advance anti-hunger legislation and secure critical funding for food assistance programs both here and globally. No child should go hungry!
