The Dr. J. T. Vincent Lou Lectures are made possible by a generous gift that enables us to offer educational opportunities on social justice topics. Dr. Lou shared the Sparkill Dominicans’ deep commitment to social justice and these lectures, given in his memory, perpetuate Dr. Lou’s legacy as a great humanitarian. Light Shining in Darkness: Dominican Life in a Context of Cosmic Consciousness

Join us for a biblical reflection on what stars can teach us as we engage in greater cosmic consciousness and care for creation. Stars invite us into contemplation, widen our perspective, speak to us of God’s passionate love guided by Jesus the Daystar (2 Pet 1:19), and galvanize us to advocate for eco-justice and to adopt practices of more intentional care for the cosmos. Stars give us an immense sense of hope, reminding us that all of creation will be taken into the transforming power of the Risen One, made new through the rhythms of death and new life in an unfolding universe.
