At the Mass on Saturday, October 19, the Dominican Sisters and Associates of Sparkill joyfully welcomed new Associates Margaret Carney and Karen Ellis. The congregation, present to celebrate, was delighted to witness Margaret and Karen's first commitment to become Sparkill Dominican Associates. Their dedication was further symbolized by the presentation of a pin, a sign of our congregation’s promise of support in this new chapter of their lives.
The celebration continued as we witnessed the renewal of commitment by Associates Frank Cappadona and Margaret Hayes, who did so with great enthusiasm. Their unwavering dedication to the Dominican mission is a source of inspiration for us all.
Sr. Irene Ellis, our Prioress, acknowledged Margaret, Karen, Frank, and Margaret's heartfelt desire to make this sacred commitment as Associates of the Dominican Congregation of Our Lady of the Rosary. She expressed deep gratitude for their generosity and willingness to bring the Good News to all they meet, proclaim the Reign of God, and live out the Dominican call through a ministry of Justice and Care of Creation.
Though Associates Marie Morency, Susan O’Brien, and Jill Shields could not join us in person, they, too, renewed their commitment as Sparkill Dominican Associates by proxy. Our hearts and prayers are with them as they live the Dominican charism of prayer, study, community, and service. We promise to hold all our Associates in prayer as they strive to be faithful witnesses to the Gospel and the Dominican mission of building a more just and compassionate world.
It was truly a day to honor our shared commitment to living out the Dominican charism. As a community, we eagerly look forward to supporting Margaret, Karen, Frank, Margaret, and all our Associates as they embark on their journey of faith and mission, knowing that together, we can build a more just and compassionate world!
