On Sunday, August 7, 2022, the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill joyfully accepted Lynne Tustanowsky’s commitment as an Associate. This commitment occurred during the St. Louis Sisters and Associates Feast of Saint Dominic celebration. In the Dominican tradition, a vespers prayer service began the gathering. Sisters Jeannine DeClue, Martha Jaegers, Ann Marie Santen, and Elizabeth Slenker spoke about their experiences of the 9-day study tour, “Lands of Dominic.” Sister Elizabeth Slenker also provided a handout with the dates and travels of Saint Dominic listed. At the conclusion of their discussion, Lynne made her commitment as an Associate of the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill.
Lynne first encountered the Sparkill Community at Epiphany of our Lord Parish in St. Louis where she joined the choir and met Sister Marie Daugherty. She also met Associate Katie Patterson who invited Lynne to an Associates’ meeting. Lynne saw this invitation as an opportunity for spiritual growth and decided to attend the meeting. Feeling welcomed and at home, she began to attend meetings on a regular basis. Lynne was touched when she was asked to become an Associate and she hopes to continue her spiritual growth and expand the ways she shares her gifts with the Community.
