Haiti Vigil and Fundraiser

We invite you to join us in a Prayer Vigil and Fundraiser for Haiti on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 1:30 PM ET at Dominican Convent in Sparkill, NY. Please Click Here to make a donation to our Haiti Fund.

Since 2010 we have been connected to the people of Haiti through ministry trips to Duval Roche and ongoing support in collaboration with the Sisters of Charity of Convent Station. Many of the staff who provide care and services for our Sisters at Dominican Convent are Haitian Americans. There is absolute desperation in Haiti. The people ... are crying out for help.

Our involvement was born In response to the devastation wrought by the massive earthquake of January 12, 2010, whose epicenter was in the region of Haiti’s capital, Port-au-Prince. In February 2010, Sister Valorie Lordi, OP, joined in the work of two experienced Haitian missionaries, Sisters Dianne Moore, SC, and Cecilia McManus, SC, providing emergency medical care and assessing the immediate needs that could be met. Dominican Sisters and Associates from Sparkill, Blauvelt, Hope, and Caldwell have traveled to Haiti numerous times to work with the Sisters of Charity of Convent Station, NJ, to provide training, medical care, nutritional camps, and education for local leaders as well as the funds needed to build a wells and homes for community partners.

We  also contribute to an emergency assistance fund which is in high demand now as our community partners require humanitarian aid to meet their basic needs. The current situation in Haiti makes survival challenging. Jobs are on hold, homes are taken over by gangs and people are in danger of being killed at any time.

Our family in Haiti are always in need of prayer. Click here to see our most recent Rosary for Peace; Peace for Haiti was our first decade.
